It is a great honour to be invited to be a visiting Senior Fellow at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government for the academic year 2006-07.
This will involve at least two visits to Boston for around two weeks each time: in November 2006 and in May 2007.
My exam questions for my Fellowship are:
(I). What has Business in the Community (BITC) learnt in 25 years of seeking to engage business in improving its positive impacts on society and the environment?
(II). From this BITC experience, what might be transferrable for the 90+ business-led coalitions championing Responsible Business around the world?
I will be writing two papers for Harvard based on my "exam questions" as well as running some workshops, giving some lectures and mentoring students interested in Responsible Business.
My work will also be disseminated through other papers and in other formats as part of BITC's celebrations of our Silver Jubilee. This will include a chapter in the first ever Yearbook of Corporate Social Responsibility to be published by Haymarket Press and BITC in July 2007. My papers will also be part of the initial material for the new Business in the Global Community Partners Network, which BITC and others are helping to create. My initial concept paper for my Kennedy Fellowship provides more information. I would greatly welcome advice and feedback.
